My stay at Hotel & Resorts Kyoto-Miyazu had its ups and downs. While I loved the large room with stunning ocean views and the relaxing onsen baths, I faced significant challenges with accessibility to local attractions and language barriers. The dining options varied, but some meals were disappointing. Overall, it's a unique spot but not without its challenges.

Rooms
8.0
I appreciated the large room by Japanese standards, featuring a fantastic ocean view.
Service
6.0
Most staff were friendly, but the language barrier complicated communication, especially regarding shuttle services.
Location
5.0
The hotel is isolated, making it difficult to access Amanohashidate without transportation, ideally a car.
Dining
6.0
Dining varied from delightful meals—like delicious soup—to disappointing buffet options that felt cheap and unappetizing.
Facilities
7.0
The onsen baths were a highlight, but the timing limitations for dinner and other facilities were a letdown.

My stay at Hotel & Resorts Kyoto-Miyazu was largely enjoyable, with a stunning view of Amanohashidate from my room and exceptional onsen facilities. However, I was disappointed with the dinner service, which detracted from an otherwise lovely experience.

Rooms
8.0
I was pleased with the generous room size of 36 square meters and the beautiful view of Amanohashidate during sunset, with a fridge, safe, and tea amenities included (quite cozy!).
Service
5.0
Unfortunately, the dinner service was lacking. The waiter seemed disorganized, which affected my dining experience (not what I expected!).
Location
7.0
The hotel is perched on a hill, providing a lovely viewpoint of the bay, though the isolated location means a car is almost necessary to reach it (definitely adds to the tranquility!).
Dining
6.0
Breakfast was impressive with a wide selection of both western and Japanese dishes, though my dinner experience was impacted by service issues, which was a letdown (some highlights in the food, though!).
Facilities
9.0
The onsen was fantastic with both indoor and outdoor baths, along with a relaxing footbath area overlooking greenery (a great way to unwind!).

My stay at Hotel & Resorts Kyoto-Miyazu was a mixed bag. The room was spacious for Japanese standards and the onsen experience was a highlight. However, the isolation of the hotel made it tough to access the famous Ama-no-hashidate sandbar, especially with the shuttle bus running infrequently. Overall, if you're looking to visit that specific site, I'd recommend considering Kyoto instead.

Rooms
7.0
The room was pretty large by Japanese standards and had a lovely traditional feel with a tatami-style table, but the bathroom was small and a bit dated.
Service
6.0
While the staff was friendly and eager to help, there was a noticeable language barrier, which made communication a bit challenging for someone like me who speaks only a little Japanese.
Location
5.0
The hotel is quite isolated, located by the coast overlooking the bay, but getting to local attractions like the sandbar is a hassle, requiring a long trip.
Dining
7.0
Dining was hit and miss; the western restaurant had nice food and a good view, but I struggled with the lack of English menu options and some quality issues in the buffet.
Facilities
6.0
The facilities were decent, featuring multiple restaurants and a beautiful onsen, but the overall hotel showed some wear and tear.

6.8/10

My three-night stay at Hotel & Resorts Kyoto-Miyazu was mostly enjoyable, despite a few quirks. The location by the coast and mountains provided stunning views, and while the dining experiences varied, some meals were truly memorable. However, not being able to understand the menus due to language barriers made things challenging at times.

Rooms
7.0
My room was spacious, with two beds, a sofa, and a lovely ocean view, though the bathroom was quite cramped and lacked basic amenities like hand creams. I found the bedding to be a bit dated, with sheets that felt uncomfortable instead of traditional futons.
Service
7.0
The staff were friendly and eager to assist, even without much English. However, the reservation system for dining felt a bit inconvenient, as I often had to choose from pictures without much guidance.
Location
8.0
Set up on a hill overlooking the ocean and Amanohashidate, the hotel's location was beautiful and tranquil, but it was a bit isolated. I definitely needed a car to explore the coastal drives and nearby attractions.
Dining
6.0
I had mixed experiences with dining. Breakfast was a buffet offering various cuisines, and while some meals were bland, the tempura at the casual Japanese restaurant was excellent. The set menus didn't cater well to preferences, which was frustrating at times.
Facilities
6.0
The hotel offered several facilities, including an onsen and an outdoor pool that were nice for relaxation. Unfortunately, quick access to Wi-Fi was limited to the lobby, which made it less convenient during my stay.

I had a pleasant stay at Hotel & Resorts Kyoto-Miyazu, enjoying the large rooms and stunning views of the Amanohashidate. However, the language barrier with staff and some dining issues slightly detracted from the experience. The hotel’s onsen was a highlight, but the limited shuttle service made exploring the area a bit challenging.

Rooms

My room was generous in size at about 36 square meters, featuring a beautiful view of Amanohashidate during sunset and comfortable amenities like a two-seater sofa and welcome snacks.
Service
6.0
While the staff were friendly and eager to help, the lack of English proficiency sometimes made communication challenging, especially regarding the dining options.
Location
7.0
The hotel is located about 20 minutes from Amanohashidate Station, surrounded by crop fields, providing a serene escape from urban areas. However, you'll definitely need a car to get around and explore the nearby attractions.
Dining
6.0
Breakfast offered an impressive selection of both Japanese and Western dishes with a great view; however, I found the dinner options to be hit or miss due to the absence of English translations on the menu.
Facilities
8.0
The onsen was spacious and well-appointed, adding a nice touch to my stay. The hotel also had a wedding chapel and other amenities, making it a comprehensive resort.
